A climb up the Callander Crags, through the woods behind the town, is well worth the effort to enjoy the spectacular views north to the mountains and lochs of the Highlands while to the south are the gently rolling Lowlands. The forest paths and tracks are waymarked with some steep sections and it can be slippery when wet. So be careful!
The last time I was up the top, at the Jubilee Cairn, I thought I was going to have the summit to myself when two Mountain Bikers came from the opposite direction. I was amazed, but what Danny Macaskill can do others will heartily follow.
The Crags can be an up and down route, a circular route and take the Scout Pool and the Bracklinn Falls, a number of choices for the fit and enthusiastic.
