This is a fascinating experience of a mixture of museum and a real working farm. The museum is a modern building designed to house models as well as implements, both large and small, connected to the land and farming.
You are taken through three centuries of land development of the production of food and how wars, politics, science, greed, and famine had significant influences to alter Scotland's countryside. The working farm provides its contribution to history with the period farmhouse retaining the furniture and fittings of the 1950s.
Depending on the season there is always many diverse activities on the farm from new-born lambs, calving, haymaking and harvesting. Aberdeen Angus cattle, Tamworth pigs, Ayrshire cows, black faced sheep and Clydesdale horse provide plenty of life and activity on the farm. You have to get your timing right to see things like milking.
Opening Hours: All year between 10.00 - 17.00
except December 25, 26 and January 1st
