The House of Dun, the William Adam’s Georgian house, places Baroque extravagance in a spectacular natural setting amid glorious gardens and woodland.
Guided tours of this elegant Georgian country house take you through 250 years of history and introduce the main features and characters who played a part in the story of the house. Admire the extravagant plaster work in the saloon and discover a fine clockwork roasting spit in the kitchen – a labour-saving device that was at the forefront of technology in its day. There is period furniture, hand-stitched wool work, embroideries and paintings to amaze you.
Enjoy the meandering woodland walks where you can look out for otters, roe deer and red squirrels along the way. Venture down to Montrose Basin Nature Reserve in autumn and winter to see the amazing spectacle of thousands of geese and ducks.
