Described as one of the most beautiful gardens in Scotland, situated at 300 feet, Glenwhan Garden overlooking Luce Bay and the Mull of Galloway, with clear views to the Isle of Man.
Amazingly more than forty years ago this was wild moorland, but with love, toil and dedication, you can now see glorious collections of plants from around the world. Having given considerable thought and vision to the enterprise there is now colour in all seasons and the winding paths, well placed seats, and varied sculptures, focusing around small lakes, add to the tranquil atmosphere. There is a 17-acre moorland wildflower walk, the chance to see red squirrels and a well-marked Tree Trail.
There is also a thriving plant nursery and tearoom with delicious home produce. Parties catered for with notice. Although disabled access is partial, access is available in most parts. Pond dipping and wildlife trails, moorland walks, Easter egg hunt and children’s quiz.
Opening Hours: Daily: 10am – 5pm
Easter or 1st April (whichever comes first) to September 30th:
Thereafter open with an Honesty Box at the Entrance.
Tearoom closes 30th September.
