Glasgow’s annual folk, roots and world music festival, Celtic Connections is the largest annual winter music festival of its kind and the UK's premier celebration of Celtic music where more than 2,000 musicians, from 50 countries, perform across 26 stages, not quite 800 hours, 33 days of music.
Celtic Connections is a grand celebration of Celtic music and its links to musical cultures around the world. The festival is renowned for its strong spirit of collaboration, bringing together one-off line-ups for very special one night stands. The camaraderie between musicians continues into the wee small hours at the late-night Festival Club, home of famous musical collaborations where spontaneity plays a big part.
There are workshops where you can try your hand or hone your skills in everything from shape-note singing to Bulgarian songs and Gaelic puirt-a-beul, literally "tunes from a mouth", a traditional form of song native to Scotland, Ireland, and Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia.
Opening Hours: Formally “waking” hours, informally 24hrs/day from late January to early February
