For three weeks in August peoples of all nations come together to celebrate the performing arts in the grandest style at the annual Edinburgh International Festival where virtuosity and originality excel. Each year the Festival combs the globe, to present to you, the finest performers in the worlds of dance, opera, music, and theatre.
The most exciting and creative artists, unique collaborations, world premieres, critically acclaimed productions as well as new perspectives on classical works are invited to perform for you in Edinburgh. From the beginning in 1947, this concept inspired artists, not part of the International programme, to stage their own shows, something that became the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and from this initial blooming of the human spirit, Edinburgh has become the world's Festival City.
Come see the opening “Bloom” event courtesy of Standard Life, the closing Virgin Money fireworks concert and enjoy and absorb as much as you can during this memorable period.
Enjoy an experience of a lifetime amidst the spirit and spectacle of the world famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo, with its pomp and ceremony, and military precision which showcases the talents of musicians and performers from every corner of the globe.
